Haiku

The light is blinding

My eyes are burning so much

I put on my glasses.

Tanka

The yell from the left

The laughter from the right

I get mixed feelings

I do not know what to think

So I close my eyes and sleep

Pervez Musharraf

Pervez Musharraf
President of Pakistan

The Partition separated us
We had to move to Pakistan
If I hadn’t, none of my power over Pakistan would have occurred
My experience with death has taught me to play it safe

I didn’t know my place
I joined the army
When I learned what had to be done
I became president

They tried to take me from my position
I did not budge
I still sit in this office today
Proud as ever.

Research

After the Partition of India, his parents immigrated to Pakistan and chose to settle in Karachi.
several people filed court petitions challenging his assumption of power.
In 1961, he entered the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul

Dear Mr. Musharraf,
I wanted to send you a letter about my village in Pakistan its called Pasni and I have never left it before. We don’t need to because we get fish every other day. Some of the kins of fish we get are Blue panchax, Bighead carp, and Goat catfish they are my favorite. Even though the fish is usually a few days old and raw it is as my mom says “still food.” I was talking with my mom’s friend from a place called *Amarica she said people the have huge mansions and they get to go to school just like me! But she said their school has a roof on it. She also said that people in Amarica have actors too like the actor Ajab Gul. I have only seen one movie in my 12 years but I have read old magazines about actors.
I know you probably get a lot of requests from people that have the same problems as me so I wanted you to know a little about me before you made your decision. Could you please help me and my family. Thank you

Snow dogs

The snow hook drags hesitatingly through the filthy snow
Stopped
Held deep by underlying roots
They weave to and fro zigzagging across the freshly laden powder
Numerous tries to pull the dogs straight
Undeniably futile
The endless howling bursting the weakend eardrums
Perfect serenity

The chained beasts at rest
The metallic eyes shutter
Hoping the dream will never end

EAGLE

wings spread to the width of the earth
they slowly beat back and forth almost hypnotic
the mesmerizing swoop as it plunges to its prey

the dazzling glimmer of the beak blends the world into an animal
it is an angel
trying to fly back to its heaven

MAN BOY

A boy small, innocent, and helpless
He is lost in the labyrinth of life
Waiting for the devil inside to find him.
The man strong and stubborn
He has already laid his sting on the mossy maze
He has found the beast first

A man does not express his feelings
He only endures the pain
While a boy crys when he scrapes his knee on the pavement
